On-Site Training

Staying on top of the ever-changing accounting, SEC, and corporate governance rules is quite a challenge. At Mind the GAAP, we deliver customized training courses - at your company's place of business - covering only those topics that are important to you.

We have developed and instructed dozens of customized courses for our clients. A sampling of the many topics we have presented include:

  • Business combinations
  • Contingencies
  • Derivatives & hedging
  • FIN 46R & Consolidations
  • Foreign currency transactions/translation
  • How to read & interpret financial statements
  • IFRS vs. U.S. GAAP - the differences
  • Impairment of long-lived assets
  • Income taxes
  • Leases
  • Pensions & post-retirement benefits
  • Researching & resolving accounting issues
  • Restructurings
  • Revenue recognition
  • SEC rules & regulations
  • Segment reporting
  • Share-based payments (i.e., stock options)
  • And many others!

At Mind the GAAP, we pride ourselves in developing courses that don't simply espouse accounting theory but, instead, permit participants to apply the concepts discussed. Our courses tend to be about 40% discussion and about 60% case studies or activities. Accordingly, we believe that participants leave our courses with "nuts and bolts" implementation guidance on how a standard should be applied.

Unlike CPE firms that offer large, generic classes, Mind the GAAP customizes each training session to focus only on the issues of importance to our clients. In fact, we'll often custom-build a course that is compatible with the resources available to participants on a day-to-day basis. As a simple example, we might include a case study that uses the same chart of accounts from a company's general ledger system.

We have also developed courses that focus on industry specific issues, particularly those found in the following industries: biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and distribution, telecommunications, media and advertising, and financial services.

Our training materials comply with AICPA and NASBA standards. This means that participants can receive CPE credits for attending our courses.
